We have a couple of chainsaws for chopping up fallen trees. We’ve had to use them a lot over the last few weeks and by last weekend we had 2 blunt chainsaw blades.

I was going to buy a fancy chainsaw sharpener but then I talked to my neighbour who sends off his chainsaw blades to a forestry company in Cumbria, gets them sharpened for £4.95 each and they come back within a week.

So I did that instead.

Because even though I could sharpen them myself with either a fancy chainsaw sharpener or an old fashioned file, I would rather pay someone else to do it. It leaves me more time to do the things I’m good at and want to do, meanwhile I support another small business and get my blades sharpened for under a tenner.

You don’t have to do it all yourself, especially not the jobs you find difficult. Sometimes a small investment in another small business can take it off your plate and free you up to do more of what you’re good at and enjoy. And they’ll do it quicker. Just saying!

Edited to add: I sent them off on the Friday and they arrived back on the following Wednesday! Result!

Love, Claire xx
