I remember when I walked out of my job one Friday back in 2005 after a ‘talking to*’ from Klaus, my horrible boss.
*him shouting at me for 10 minutes in the public cafe in our building.
I had enough. Walked out. No job to go to. I was relieved to be out after a year of bullying but terrified about money. On the hour’s journey home I decided I had to go it alone and start a business.
Do you know my biggest problem that day and for the entire weekend, and a few weeks afterwards?
I had nobody to ask. Nobody to tell me what to do. Nobody to go to for advice. Nobody ‘got’ it.
These days we have YouTube and Facebook groups, tips and advice everywhere. It’s great.
A few years later in 2010 I found myself in the sad position of having to close my marketing agency (long story for another day) and even though I had been in business for a few years, I again found myself with nobody to ask, nobody to talk to about it.
So I set up The Girls Mean Business and shortly afterwards, my Dream Business Academy. That way nobody would find themselves in my lonely position. Women like me would always have someone to talk to, who gets it.
Sometimes, if the thing you need doesn’t exist yet, create it.
Love, Claire xx
