Someone in her industry asked if they could pick her brains for an hour about starting a similar business.
My client did say that in the past she would have just given in then regretted it because it’s never just an hour…but instead she replied saying she couldn’t offer a free chat as it had taken 12 years to build her business from scratch, but she was prepared to share her knowledge on a consultancy basis (priced at opportunity cost of a lost sale while she spent an hour on the phone to this person!)
The person didn’t want to take her up on the offer of consultancy but she did definitely get the point!
The thing is that paid hour of consultancy could have fast-tracked this person by months or years. This person could have afforded it. She just chose not to value it. My client has learned to recognise her own value. Isn’t it time you did the same?
