You’re busy, right? Of course you are. All women business owners are busy – and if you have kids, quadruple the workload.

I work from home by choice and I’m super-productive. But I have the same 24 hours as you. How do I get so much done? I DECIDE to get stuff done. Here are three things I do every day.

1. Switch Everything Off

I know I’m easily distracted. So when I need to get things done, I switch off my phone, close Instagram, silence WhatsApp and shut my office door.

I work in 30-minute focused chunks, then check my phone. I’m far more productive this way.

Practical tip: Try the Pomodoro technique – 25 minutes of focused work, 5-minute break, repeat. Apps like Forest or Focus Keeper make it fun by growing a virtual tree while you work (and killing it if you open social media!).

2. Set A Timer

I set a timer for my 30-minute blocks. Being up against the clock makes me work so much better.

What can you do in 30 minutes? More than you think:

  • Film and edit 2-3 Instagram Reels using CapCut
  • Schedule a week’s worth of social media posts in Later or Meta Business Suite
  • Draft your weekly newsletter
  • Design 5 Instagram carousel slides in Canva
  • Write a blog post outline using ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas

3. Make A 10-Minute Task List

Each morning with my cup of tea, I break all my big tasks into 10-minute chunks. Instead of “create this week’s content” I might spend 10 minutes on topic ideas, 10 minutes writing captions, 10 minutes choosing images in Canva, 10 minutes scheduling in Later.

If you’re working around children or appointments, those little pockets of time throughout the day suddenly become incredibly useful.

Practical tip: Keep your 10-minute list in your phone’s Notes app or a tool like Notion or Trello, so you can grab it anywhere – in the school pickup queue, waiting at the dentist, during the kids’ swimming lesson.

Three or four 10-minute sessions per day and before you know it, you’ve ticked loads off your list. Your friends will be calling you Superwoman behind your back. Nice!
